Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer within the Security Platform Engineering group to lead the architecture and execution of cryptographic infrastructure and PKI initiatives, delivering high-availability services for internal and external partners.

You will mentor engineers, drive secure code practices, align cross-functional teams, and apply zero-trust principles while operating in a Golang-heavy environment and managing certificate lifecycles with HSMs or cloud KMS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building highly available, distributed systems.
• Deep PKI and cryptography expertise, with experience operating certificate authorities and X.509 lifecycle automation.
• Extensive programming experience in Golang, Java, C++, or Rust, with a Golang-heavy environment.
• Proven track record operating Tier-0 or highly critical infrastructure with security, low latency requirements.
• Experience leading a team’s technical strategy, architecture, and deliverables for large-scale projects under regulatory constraints.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities
