Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Performance Accountability Specialist to lead the most complex, high-risk cases for under-performing non-contract salaried employees across regions. You will partner with Legal, HRBPs, and regional leaders to deliver compliant outcomes and shape standards, tools, and training across the function.

You will mentor specialists, interpret KPI trends, and contribute to improving SOPs, templates, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
• 7+ years in HR, Employee Relations, Performance Management, or related areas, with formal performance cases.
• Deep expertise in formal performance management and risk assessment.
• Experience with HRIS/case management systems, preferably Workday.
• Ability to partner with Legal and translate guidance for managers.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to influence senior leaders.
• Mentor or coach other HR professionals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High judgment, discretion, and resilience with sensitive matters.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end management of the most complex performance accountability cases, including senior-level employees and cross-border matters.
• Advise on formal performance accountability standards, thresholds, documentation, and case strategy.
• Partner with Legal and regional SMEs on country-specific requirements, including notice and appeal processes.
• Lead complex manager consultations, guiding difficult performance situations and communications.
• Provide expert review on PFIs, letters, case documentation, and outcome recommendations.
• Mentor and coach Performance Accountability Specialists and share best practices.
• Identify recurring themes, risks, and improvements to SOPs, templates, and workflows.
• Interpret KPI trends to generate insights and inform leadership discussions.
