Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP is seeking a payroll professional to support consulting engagements across diverse clients and geographies. You will help assess and improve payroll processes, ensure compliance, and analyze data to drive improvements.

The role is mostly remote, with proximity expectations to Baker Tilly offices for occasional on-site collaboration and client delivery. Strong knowledge of multiple payroll systems and CPP certification are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; experience may substitute.
• 3 years payroll experience in consulting, payroll provider, or in-house payroll.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, multistate regulations, and compliance.
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings.
• Familiarity with major payroll systems (ADP, Workday, SAP, Oracle/PeopleSoft, Paycom, Paycor).
• CPP certification strongly preferred (or in progress).

Responsibilities

• Support payroll consulting engagements across clients, industries, and geographies.
• Assist in assessing and improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures.
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews (federal, state, local).
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration including earnings, deductions, and tax treatments.
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver timely, accurate work.
• Communicate payroll concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
