Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP is seeking a payroll professional to support multi-state payroll engagements for a diverse client base. You will analyze payroll processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with teams to deliver accurate results.

Based mostly remote, the role requires being within 50 miles of a Baker Tilly office in select states; strong Excel skills, CPP preferred, and experience with ADP/Workday are a plus.

Qualifications

• 3 years of payroll experience in a consulting firm, payroll provider, or in-house payroll function.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and multistate regulations.
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Support payroll consulting engagements across clients, industries, and geographies.
• Assist in assessing and improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures.
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews, including federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support payroll tax activities, including preparation and review of forms (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C).
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration, including earnings, deductions, and tax treatments.
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
