Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for a 100% remote role supporting Veterans Affairs. The candidate will manage Oracle and SQL Server environments, implement backup/recovery, and ensure security and performance. 8+ years of experience and US citizenship are required, with a Public Trust (MBI) clearance preferred.

This is a W-2, full-time position. Minimal travel and collaboration with cross-functional teams are expected.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive experience managing Oracle and SQL Server databases.
• Experience in database design, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security.
• Strong SQL proficiency including complex queries and PL/SQL.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade DBMSs and manage database objects.
• Monitor performance, tune queries, and optimize indexes.
• Develop backup/recovery strategies and perform drills.
• Enforce security policies and manage user access.
• Collaborate with developers and IT staff to resolve issues.
• Maintain documentation and operational manuals.
