Job summary

Korsana Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Scientist/Sr. Scientist in Oligonucleotide Chemistry to lead the design, optimization, and characterization of next‑generation therapeutic oligonucleotides.

Working with bioinformatics, biology, pharmacology, formulation, and delivery sciences, this role drives discovery programs from target identification through candidate selection. Note: This role is fully remote and applicants can be based anywhere in the United States.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry or related field with industry experience.
• Hands-on experience in organic synthesis and nucleoside chemistry.
• Experience with siRNA, antisense oligonucleotides or PMO modalities.
• Experience with oligonucleotide synthesis platforms and purification workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize chemically modified oligonucleotides, including siRNAs, ASOs, PMOs.
• Develop novel nucleoside analogs, phosphoramidites, backbone chemistries, and architectures.
• Generate SAR to guide lead optimization across chemistries and modifications.
• Design oligonucleotide libraries with cross‑functional teams for screening campaigns.
• Develop synthetic routes for novel oligonucleotide building blocks.
• Oversee synthesis, purification, and analytical characterization of oligos and intermediates.
• Manage external CROs, including design, oversight, timelines, and troubleshooting.
• Develop analytical methods (RP‑HPLC, IEX, LC‑MS, CE, SEC) to characterize oligos.
