Job summary

Autonomous Therapeutics in Rockville, MD, seeks a PhD chemist to advance next-generation oligonucleotide medicines with delivery beyond the liver. You will bridge solid-phase synthesis, new RNA/DNA chemistries, and bioconjugation to create conjugate candidates.

The role may focus on oligos, delivery ligands, linkers, or conjugate development in a 25-strong chemistry team at an expansive R&D facility outside Washington, D.C.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline with strong scientific record.
• Experience with oligonucleotide synthesis, modifications, and related modalities.
• Solid-phase synthesis experience, including deprotection, purification, and characterization.
• Background in delivering bioconjugates to improve delivery, PK, or cellular uptake.
• Proficiency with LC-MS and HPLC to assess identity, purity, and yield.

Responsibilities

• Develop next-generation oligonucleotide therapeutics and delivery strategies.
• Design and optimize solid-phase synthesis workflows and purification steps.
• Synthesize and optimize bioconjugates for improved in vivo performance.
• Characterize products by LC-MS/HPLC and related analytical methods.
• Collaborate with chemists, biologists, and cross-functional teams.
