Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a fully remote role focusing on commercial nuclear power plant modification projects. You will develop and review evaluations, design changes, and analyses to enhance safety and performance, while mentoring junior engineers and working with a multidisciplinary team.

Travel and onsite support at nuclear facilities may be required as needed. The position is a contract-based opportunity based out of Charlotte, NC, with a pay range of

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
• PE license or equivalent experience highly valued.
• 10+ years of engineering experience with PE license, or 15+ years without PE.
• Nuclear industry experience including commercial nuclear power or DOE facilities is preferred.
• Proven experience modifying plant systems in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review engineering evaluations, calculations, and analyses to support plant safety and performance.
• Prepare and review design changes and engineering change packages for nuclear modifications.
• Perform structural/finite element analyses and pipe stress analyses.
• Conduct thermal hydraulic analyses and CFD studies using ANSYS Fluent or similar tools.
• Interface with utility and nuclear facility clients to present technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver on schedule.
