Job summary

Eliassen Group seeks a Senior Network Security Engineer to design, implement, and optimize a global network security stack with emphasis on Palo Alto platforms and secure hybrid cloud connectivity. The role involves owning complex initiatives, partnering with Cloud and Infra teams, and supporting data centers, offices, and WAN environments.

The position is contract-to-hire and remote, with W2 benefits and a rate of $60.00–$90.00/hour.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in engineering and supporting network security in production
• Hands-on with Palo Alto PAN-OS and Panorama
• Strong knowledge of firewall policy, segmentation, NAT, VPN and threat prevention
• Experience with Juniper Junos, Cisco NX-OS, or Arista EOS
• Experience with network automation or IaC (Terraform/Ansible/Python/Bash)
• Ability to own complex initiatives and troubleshoot high-impact issues
• Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration
• Preferred: GlobalProtect, Prisma Access, Cloud NGFW, SASE, or Zero Trust tech
• Preferred: Juniper routing and switching experience
• Preferred: Network Access Control platforms (Aruba ClearPass/Mist)
• Preferred: 802.1X, RADIUS, cert-based auth, enterprise wireless
• Preferred: Azure & AWS networking
• Preferred: Certifications (PCNSE, CCNP Security, CCNP Enterprise, JNCIS/JNCIP)
• Preferred: Experience in regulated aerospace/defense environments

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure network architectures across data centers, offices, remote sites, and cloud environments
• Administer and optimize Palo Alto technologies including PAN-OS, Panorama, GlobalProtect, Threat Prevention
• Engineer firewall policy, segmentation, NAT, VPN, and Zero Trust/SASE connectivity
• Administer or support Network Access Control and enterprise auth controls
• Analyze traffic and security logs; support vulnerability remediation and incident response
• Perform firewall upgrades, hardening, and lifecycle maintenance per change management
• Support routing, switching, WAN, and wireless infra across data centers and global sites
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for routing, firewall, connectivity, performance, and app access
• Support secure hybrid connectivity with Azure and AWS; virtual firewall and routing
• Partner with infra and cloud teams to embed security requirements in designs
• Coordinate with Palo Alto, Juniper, and vendors on escalations
• Automate network/security tasks using Terraform, Ansible, Python, or Bash
• Develop and maintain config standards, diagrams, runbooks, and docs
• Provide Tier 3 escalation for outages and incidents
• Mentor engineers and share networking security practices
• participate in on-call, maintenance windows, and emergencies
