Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize complex network solutions across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments for a Federal Civil customer in the Washington, DC area. The role requires independent problem-solving, leadership in incident response, and guidance to junior engineers.

The ideal candidate possesses expert routing/switching knowledge (BGP/OSPF, VLANs/VRFs), strong security skills (Firepower, FMC, ASA), VPN design, and experience with AWS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of network engineering experience.
• Advanced hands-on experience designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting complex enterprise network infrastructure in production environments.
• Expert-level knowledge of enterprise routing and switching technologies (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs) and network redundancy.
• Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise security infrastructure, including firewalls and VPN connectivity.
• Experience supporting Cisco and/or Juniper platforms in multi-vendor environments.
• Experience designing or supporting hybrid cloud connectivity between on-prem and AWS (VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical and escalation resource for complex network issues affecting mission-critical enterprise infrastructure.
• Lead planning, design, and optimization of network infrastructure across distributed, multi-vendor environments.
• Analyze complex technical challenges and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and security.
• Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise routing and switching infrastructure (BGP/OSPF/VLANs/VRFs) and network redundancy.
• Engineer and support enterprise security solutions including Cisco Firepower, FMC, ASA, and firewall policies.
• Design and sustain secure site-to-site and remote-access VPNs (AnyConnect).
• Engineer and maintain hybrid cloud connectivity with AWS (VPCs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess requirements, develop solutions, and influence network decisions.
