Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Modeling Engineer-Scientist to support the Next Generation Submarine Battery program in Crane, IN. This position is 100% remote; however, candidate must be able to travel to Crane, IN approximately twice per month.

Responsibilities include developing, enhancing, and validating thermal and electrochemical models to support battery system design and performance assessment, applying MATLAB for model development, simulation, and analysis, and supporting multi‑physics modeling

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific discipline with nine years of experience; Master’s with seven years; PhD with four years.
Experience with thermal modeling.
Proficiency in MATLAB.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, technical environment.
Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance; SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and validate thermal and electrochemical models to support battery system design and performance assessment.
Apply MATLAB for model development, simulation, and analysis.
Support modeling activities related to multi‑physics interactions within NiZn, Lead‑Acid, and Lithium battery systems.
Assist with developing complex thermal and electrochemical models.
