Job summary

SAIC in Crane, Indiana is seeking a Modeling Engineer-Scientist to support the Next Generation Submarine Battery program. You will develop and validate thermal and electrochemical models to inform battery design and performance assessments.

The role requires MATLAB proficiency, strong analytical problem-solving, and teamwork in a technical environment. A security clearance (or interim) is required and SAIC sponsors the process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific discipline with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience with thermal modeling and MATLAB proficiency required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based, technical environment.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance; SAIC sponsors the clearance process.

• Support modeling activities related to multi‑physics interactions within NiZn, Lead‑Acid, and Lithium battery systems
• Assist with developing complex thermal and electrochemical models

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific discipline and five (5) years of experience
• Experience with thermal modeling
• Proficiency in MATLAB
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, technical environment
• Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance; can start once interim clearance is granted. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process

Preferred Qualifications
