Job summary

Coinbase is a remote-first company seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer (L5) to own end-to-end ML initiatives, from problem formulation through production serving and online experimentation.

You will partner with Product, Data Science, and Engineering to shape roadmaps and raise the engineering quality bar, delivering measurable business impact across crypto, equities, derivatives, and prediction markets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering and software development.
• Proven experience in production ML systems
• Strong backend skills in Python or Go and ML/data stacks.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end ML initiatives from problem formulation to production serving and online experimentation.
• Develop multi-stage recommendation, retrieval, and contextual bandit models for large user bases.
• Design intelligent notification and ranking systems to improve user engagement and trading activity.
• Build production LLM pipelines and automated evaluation loops for real-time insights.
• Lead incident response and improve operational reliability across services.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with Product and Data Science teams.
