Placements24 client, a globally recognized mining conglomerate, is seeking a Senior Mine Economist for a fully remote position in the United States. The role focuses on advanced economic analysis, financial modeling for projects from exploration through production and closure, and supporting strategic decision-making.

You will build and review NPVs, IRRs, and sensitivity analyses, evaluate opportunities, and collaborate with geologists, engineers, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Mining Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in economic analysis, financial modeling, and valuation in mining/resources.
• Experience building complex financial models for mining projects.
• Strong knowledge of commodity markets and investment appraisal techniques.
• Proficiency with advanced Excel and mining planning outputs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; present data clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and maintain detailed financial models for mining projects (NPV, IRR, payback, sensitivity).
• Conduct economic evaluations of exploration targets, feasibility studies, and expansions.
• Analyze commodity markets and forecast price trends for economic assessments.
• Provide economic input for mine planning, budgeting, and long-term planning.
• Evaluate investment opportunities and assess financial risks of mining projects.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in building and interpreting complex financial models for mining projects.
• Strong understanding of commodity markets, mining economics, and investment appraisal techniques.
• Proficiency in financial modeling software (e.g., Excel - advanced), and familiarity with mine planning software outputs.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a remote setting.
• Experience with risk management and sensitivity analysis is highly desirable.
