Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, a leader in health care, seeks a Senior Medical Coder to perform concurrent review of CPT and E/M coding within Epic, ensuring accurate coding for maximum reimbursement and minimal denials. This remote opportunity supports health equity and broad access to care.

Responsibilities include applying coding guidelines, querying providers for clarification, and mentoring others to improve coding quality while aligning with revenue cycle goals. Eligible for nationwide telecommuting.

Qualifications

• Must have CPC, CPC-H, CPC-P, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS or CCS-P or equivalent certification.
• 3+ years of coding experience across multiple specialties.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, Modifiers & HCPCS coding.
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, disease process and anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate medical codes using reference materials and guidelines.
• Assign codes for diagnosis, procedures, evaluation and management and other services.
• Interpret clinical documentation to determine applicable codes.
• Generate queries to clarify unclear documentation and follow up with providers.
• Resolve coding edits or denials and respond to audits.
• Educate and mentor others to improve coding quality and understand revenue impact.
