Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer (Starship) to lead the design and fabrication of flight hardware, including propellant tanks, interfaces, and primary structures. You will own end-to-end processes on the Starbase team, resolving complex issues and driving manufacturability.

You will develop design concepts, run FE analyses, generate NX CAD models, perform first-order calculations, and support assembly, testing, and integration on-site with a world-class production team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience with mechanical design and analysis.
• Experience with high-performance mechanical systems is a plus.
• Experience with FEA or multiphysics simulation packages is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop design concepts from scratch and size structures for flight loads.
• Collaborate across vehicle systems to balance mass, cost and capability.
• Create CAD models and assemblies in NX for components and integration.
• Build FE models and validate designs through testing and hand calculations.
