Job summary

TECKpert is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst Programmer to support a government agency in South Florida, focusing on mainframe development with IDMS, COBOL, and JCL in a z/OS environment. This full-time contract role offers remote work with occasional onsite visits in Downtown and South Miami.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in IDMS, COBOL, JCL, and production support, along with strong analytical and communication skills. US-based candidates only; no sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Perform systems analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance of mainframe applications.
• Develop and support batch and online applications using IDMS and COBOL in a z/OS environment.
• Maintain and enhance IDMS database structures, screen mappings, and application logic.
• Create and manage JCL for batch processing and job scheduling.
• Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes in a controlled environment.
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Support application documentation and ensure adherence to established standards and procedures.
• Collaborate with IT teams and end users to ensure reliable system performance and service delivery.
• Minimum 5 years of recent experience in an IDMS / COBOL / JCL / z/OS mainframe environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems analysis, application development, and implementation.
• Hands-on experience with IDMS utilities and components, including online and batch processing.
• Strong understanding of mainframe job control, scheduling, and production operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
