Job summary

TruStage, part of CMFG Life Insurance, is seeking a Claims Litigation Consultant II to lead complex third‑party litigated claims with independence and judgment. You will collaborate with underwriting, risk management and legal teams, manage external resources when needed, and advise credit unions on risk and exposure, while ensuring effective recovery strategies and professional client service.

This role requires strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills, with travel for mediations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of claims experience with a focus on litigation.
• Knowledge of policy coverage and interpretation.
• Ability to work independently, including working effectively in a remote office environment.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite and web applications.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage litigation on assigned claims to resolution.
• Decide when external resources are hired for investigations or legal services.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Risk Management, Actuarial and Legal teams.
• Educate partners and credit unions about risks and exposures.
• Provide timely reporting per claim handling guidelines.
• Ensure maximum recovery or contribution is pursued.
• Understand applicable statutes and case law.
