Protective Life in the United States seeks a Sr. Underwriting Consultant to join our Life Underwriting team in a fully remote capacity.

This highly experienced underwriter can independently evaluate complex, high-face-amount cases while serving as a subject matter expert and mentor. You will balance risk assessment, customer experience, and distribution relationships, particularly within the independent/BGA marketplace, partnering with sales and distribution to support business objectives and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of life insurance underwriting experience.
• Underwrite large and complex cases, including impaired risks.
• Experience with independent agent / BGA distribution channel.
• Authority on higher face amounts and complex risk profiles.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex life insurance cases with face amounts above $5M and authority up to $10M.
• Analyze medical, financial, and non-medical information to support underwriting decisions.
• Provide second signature support and guidance to junior underwriters.
• Partner with internal sales and distribution teams to support business objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with independent agents, BGAs, and distribution partners.
• Manage a high-volume caseload while meeting service and quality standards.
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor team and share knowledge for development.
