Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a hands-on Senior Java Engineer to join our Online Banking delivery team. You will drive development and support of Digital Banking solutions, lead real-time and batch integrations, and guide distributed teams to deliver secure, scalable software across card, payments, and core banking domains.

Ideal candidates have 8–10 years Java/J2EE, strong communication, experience with Spring, REST APIs, React, Kubernetes, and API gateways.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years hands-on Java/J2EE experience.
• Excellent ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Strong design with JEE Enterprise Technologies: JMS, JDBC, Web, Transactions, JVM, JSP, Servlets, EJB, JNDI, JMX, JTA, Spring.
• Experience building SpringBoot microservices and REST APIs.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
• Familiarity with API gateways like APIGEE and public API development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop technical solutions for functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Oversee maintenance of IaaS/SaaS and on‑premise Digital Banking applications.
• Troubleshoot code defects, data errors, and configuration problems.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices across the team.
• Lead real‑time and file‑based integrations and optimize DB processing.
