Job summary

CMCI is seeking a Senior Java Developer to design and build modern microservices in a large AWS-based environment. You will own delivery of scalable services, contribute to platform modernization, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

This role emphasizes containerization with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Traefik ingress, and data systems like RDS and Cassandra, as well as event streaming with MSK. Remote-friendly with local DMV familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience with Java.
• Strong hands-on experience deploying and managing workloads in AWS/EKS, including Helm charts and troubleshooting via Kubectl.
• Experience implementing API gateways or ingress controllers, specifically Traefik.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (RDS) and distributed NoSQL (Cassandra).
• Proven track record with distributed streaming platforms (MSK / Kafka).
• Experience with Umbrella pattern or similar monorepo/multi-module microservice architectures.

Responsibilities

• Microservices Development: design, build, and maintain Java microservices with an Umbrella pattern across 50+ services.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Dockerize apps and manage AWS/EKS deployments using Helm; use Kubectl for debugging.
• Traffic & Routing: Configure ingress routing, load balancing, and edge routing with Traefik.
• Data & Messaging: Work with Amazon RDS, Cassandra, and MSK for distributed data and streaming.
• Platform Modernization: Lead architecture planning for upcoming Java upgrades and modernization.
• Collaboration: Work with squads to ensure scalable, reliable, and maintainable services.
