Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Law to join our global IP team, working remotely with some travel to Columbus, IN and Indianapolis, IN.

The role focuses on patent preparation, prosecution, and portfolio management, supporting Cummins across multiple jurisdictions. You will advise senior leaders, manage outside counsel, and coordinate with engineering and business units to align IP strategy with business priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field; multiple disciplines acceptable.
• Licensed to practice before the USPTO.
• Export control/sanctions licensing may be required.
• Significant leadership experience in IP teams.
• Experience with AI in the IP space.

Responsibilities

• Manage patent prosecution and IP strategy; file US applications and assist in filing elsewhere.
• Participate in internal patenting committees.
• Conduct invention disclosure interviews to identify patentable ideas.
• Advise senior leaders and partner with stakeholders to improve processes.
• Manage outside counsel relationships and budgets.
• Support large/complex matters worldwide.
