Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geneticist to join a fully remote R&D team focused on designing, developing, and validating genetic tests for rare diseases, inherited conditions, and pharmacogenomics.

Lead assay development (PCR, NGS, microarrays), interpret complex data, and translate findings into clinically actionable insights. Mentor junior scientists and collaborate with clinical teams.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Human Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in genetic research and diagnostic assay development.
• Proven track record in developing and validating clinical genetic tests.
• Expertise in NGS, Sanger sequencing, and quantitative PCR.
• Experience with bioinformatics tools for variant calling, annotation, and interpretation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, essential for a remote role.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and validation of new genetic assays, including PCR, sequencing (NGS), and microarrays.
• Design experimental protocols for genetic analysis, ensuring robustness, accuracy, and clinical utility.
• Analyze and interpret complex genetic data, identifying pathogenic variants and genetic markers.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to translate diagnostic needs into assay requirements.
• Stay updated on advancements in genetic technologies, population genetics, and disease-specific research.
• Contribute to regulatory submission documents (FDA, CE-IVD).
• Troubleshoot assay performance issues and implement corrective actions.
• Author scientific reports, publications, and present findings at relevant forums.
• Mentor junior scientists and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure adherence to quality management systems and regulatory standards.
