Job summary

Intuitive is leading in robotic-assisted surgery with the Ion and da Vinci systems, seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build scalable backend services and APIs for our robotic fleet and workflows. The role emphasizes testable, maintainable software and collaboration across teams, with the option to work remotely in the United States.

You will design and implement services across GraphQL/REST/GRPC, while partnering with security and quality teams to meet compliance and operational requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in software engineering, including backend services or API development.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services and APIs to support robotic fleet and workflows.
• Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests within CI pipelines.
• Contribute to CI/CD, observability, and operational practices for reliable releases.
• Ensure documentation, health endpoints, and uptime monitoring for services.
• Collaborate with embedded, infra, and data teams to provide data-driven solutions.
• Coordinate with design and product teams to refine user experiences.
