Job summary

The Helmsman Group LLC is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to drive financial data analysis across the organization. You will analyze financial, operational, and business data to support planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and strategic decisions.

You will collaborate with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Operations, and senior management to identify trends, build dashboards, and deliver data-driven recommendations. Strong Excel, SQL, and BI tool skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables, formulas, lookups, and financial modeling.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with financial datasets.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other BI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
• Perform financial analysis related to revenue, expenses, profitability, cash flow, budgets, and forecasts.
• Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
• Conduct budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analysis.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities.
• Prepare financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses.
• Analyze profitability by product, customer, business unit, department, or other dimensions.
• Validate financial data and ensure reports are accurate, complete, and consistent.
