Job summary

RiverTech, an Akima company, seeks a Top-Level Engine Mariner SME to support USCG NMC evaluations in Martinsburg, WV. The role requires deep ocean-going experience and the ability to translate hands-on shipboard knowledge into technical guidance and training materials for government stakeholders.

You will evaluate course/program applications, review engineering policies, and participate in design reviews and program discussions as the senior engineering SME, while ensuring compliance with

Qualifications

• MMC endorsement or previously held MMC issued by U.S. Coast Guard
• Minimum of five years sailing experience under qualifying credential
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex engineering to diverse audiences
• Ability to collaborate with Coast Guard personnel, government stakeholders, contractors, and SMEs

Responsibilities

• Provide senior maritime SME guidance as Chief Engineer or First Assistant Engineer to evaluate course/program applications
• Review and input on engineering policies, procedures, manuals and SOPs
• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and program discussions as the senior engineering SME
• Support development, review, and validation of maritime engineering training materials and lesson plans
• Provide recommendations on engineering personnel qualifications, watch standing, plant operations and maintenance practices
• Research and interpret applicable maritime regulations, Coast Guard policies, and industry practices
