Job summary

The Community Solution Education System is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (Employment) to join our Office of Legal Affairs. You will advise on employment and labor matters for our system and partner institutions, partnering with HR and leadership to guide policy, investigations, and risk management in a remote, time-zone flexible environment.

Role requires 10+ years in employment law, a J.D. from an ABA‑accredited school, and an active California bar license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience practicing employment law as a litigator or in a higher education environment.
• Juris Doctor degree from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in California.
• Experience advising on employment, labor, and workplace matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal counsel and risk assessment on day-to-day operational, administrative, and strategic matters for higher education systems and institutional operations.
• Lead counsel on employment-related disputes including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage/hour, and related claims.
• Conduct and advise on investigations and recommend practical resolutions.
