Job summary

Onward Search seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer (R&D) to lead electrical design initiatives for new product development in a remote-capable environment. The role focuses on power distribution and control systems from concept through manufacturing, driving qualification and certification processes.

The ideal candidate brings a BSEE or equivalent, 5+ years in LV/MV power design, and hands-on experience with UL/IEEE/CSA standards.

Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent experience; master's degree preferred.
• At least 5 years in designing low and/or medium voltage power distribution equipment or related products.
• Experience with NRTL evaluation, testing, and certification processes.
• Familiarity with UL 891, 1558, 508A, IEEE/ANSI C37.20.2, C37.04, C37.06, C37.09, CSA C22.2, NFPA 70E.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar tools for electrical diagram creation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the electrical design and development of power and control systems for new products, from initial concept to manufacturing.
• Create detailed electrical specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with testing labs to define certification scope, develop test plans, and evaluate outcomes for product qualification.
• Support testing activities, analyze results, and iterate designs to improve performance and compliance.
• Serve as the primary technical contact during manufacturing and testing phases, providing troubleshooting and technical guidance.
