Qualifications

• 5+ years of journalism experience, including covering medical, scientific, or health-related conferences.
• Demonstrated experience managing or editing freelance writers.
• Strong news judgment and ability to identify newsworthy angles quickly, including under deadline pressure.
• Excellent editing skills with close attention to accuracy and AP style.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the editorial strategy across rare disease conferences and events.
• Identify high-impact research, clinical developments, and emerging trends for coverage.
• File timely stories under deadline pressure from the conference floor.
• Lead conference planning with editorial calendars, staffing, budgets, and post-event content.
• Attend conferences in person and cover keynote sessions, new data, and patient/advocacy news.
