Job summary

BioNews Services is seeking an entry-level Assistant Editor for a part-time independent contractor role. This fully remote position supports editorial projects in healthcare communications, helping keep tasks organized and moving forward while gaining hands-on experience in editing, communication, and project management.

The ideal candidate is organized and detail-oriented, comfortable coordinating with freelance writers, editors, and medical reviewers, and eager to learn Jira and WordPress

Qualifications

• Organized and detail-oriented with strong communication across contributors.
• Experience with Google Workspace preferred.
• Familiarity with Jira or WordPress helpful but not required; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate assignments for freelance writers, editors, and medical reviewers.
• Track deadlines and follow up on outstanding work.
• Enter and update project information in Jira.
• Move articles through the editorial workflow and pipeline.
• Reach out to physicians by email or LinkedIn about medical review opportunities.
• Lightly edit pages after medical review and perform final checks before copy editing.
• Build and format pages in WordPress.
• Update project trackers and organize files in Google Sheets, Drive, and Docs.
• Help organize payment information, release forms, and other contributor paperwork.
• Assist with other editorial and administrative tasks as needed.
