Job summary

Evernest is seeking an ambitious accounting leader to own the books behind every door we manage. You will lead the close for Retail SFR, Institutional SFR, and Multifamily, and supervise a team of ~25 accountants and specialists.

Reporting to the COO, the role emphasizes trust accounting, AI-enabled processes, and durable collaboration with data/tech teams. Remote (U.S.) with growth in a fast-growing, multi-market company.

Qualifications

• Experience at scale leading property accounting across multiple markets and entities.
• Proven institutional reporting ownership and client-facing numbers defense.
• Hands-on trust reconciliations, deposits, disbursements, and 1099s with designed controls.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the monthly close on time with owner statements and client packages.
• Reconcile trust and operating accounts monthly across 50+ markets.
• Own institutional client accounting and reporting; defend numbers to clients.
• Build the bench by coaching leaders and developing the team.
• Run the operating rhythm with weekly leadership meetings and close-status reviews.
• Document recurring workflows and tighten processes; reduce manual effort.
• Manage department budget and cost per door while maintaining productivity.
