Job summary

PAR Technology Corporation is seeking a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to embed security across the software lifecycle. You will design secure CI/CD pipelines, automate cloud infrastructure, and safeguard deployments for restaurant and retail brands globally.

Based in a remote capacity in the US, you will work with AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, and IaC tools to enable secure, reliable product delivery. Compensation ranges from $135.5K to $175K with a focus on PCI SOC2 compliance and threat detection.

Qualifications

• 6-12 years of experience across DevOps, platform engineering, security engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years focused on DevSecOps or application/cloud security in production.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms and embedding security tooling.
• Strong cloud engineering experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containers, including securing workloads at scale.
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation and scripting languages (Python/Go/Bash).
• Solid networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, and firewalls.
• Experience with observability platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, or Datadog.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate secure CI/CD pipelines with integrated security tooling.
• Harden and automate AWS and/or Azure infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code.
• Own container and orchestration security across Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement cloud security posture management, vulnerability management, and threat detection.
• Build and maintain secure secrets management and least-privilege access patterns.
• Lead threat modeling and secure design reviews with product engineering early in development.
• Respond to security events and perform post-incident analysis to improve detection and runbooks.
• Design and manage cloud networking including VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, and private endpoints.
• Operate edge and traffic-layer security including load balancers, API gateways, WAF, and TLS PKI automation.
• Implement GitOps-based delivery using Argo CD or Flux with Helm/Kustomize and progressive delivery.
• Build observability capabilities across metrics/logging/tracing with actionable alerts.
• Manage artifact repositories and SBOM generation with provenance tooling.
• Drive capacity planning, autoscaling, and cloud cost optimization without sacrificing security.
• Champion compliance-relevant controls for PCI DSS and SOC 2, automating evidence collection.
• Mentor engineers on secure coding and operational security practices.
