Job summary

Oddball is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our VA team, delivering high-priority, Veteran-facing systems with a focus on reliability and rapid response. You will own CI/CD pipelines, observability, and IaC in Azure and AWS, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating across VA programs.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in DevOps/SRE, strong scripting in Python/Bash/PowerShell, and familiarity with VA platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with Datadog or Dynatrace for observability.
• Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Solid scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with VA Platform, GitHub Enterprise, or VA.gov standards is a plus.
• Thrives in a remote, collaborative Agile environment and communicates clearly.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure across Azure and AWS.
• Own observability and monitoring using Datadog or Dynatrace to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Reduce MTTR through better incident management, runbooks, and automated remediation.
• Provision and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Write automation scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline workflows.
• Collaborate with development teams across VA programs to resolve engineering issues and improve platform stability.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to DevOps standards across the team.
