Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support the Veterans Affairs department in a 100% remote capacity. The role requires expert Oracle and SQL Server administration, design, tuning, backups, and security, with a focus on reliable data availability and regulatory compliance.

You will implement backup/recovery, performance monitoring, disaster recovery planning, and collaborate with developers and IT staff to maintain robust database infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise managing and maintaining Oracle databases and SQL Server.
• Experience in database design and architecture.
• Expertise in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security management.
• Proficiency in deploying, managing, and configuring SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Experience with database monitoring and maintenance tools.
• Knowledge of features like automated backups, snapshots, scaling, and read replicas.
• Strong SQL, PL/SQL, and optimization skills.
• Experience with backup/recovery planning and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS).
• Create and manage database objects such as tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
• Monitor and maintain database performance, including tuning and optimization.
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity.
• Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
• Manage user access and permissions for data security and compliance.
