Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Sr. Engineer, Database Reliability based in the United States. The role blends hands-on problem‑solving with architectural leadership to strengthen the data platform across MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and cloud infrastructure.

You will guide reliability, scale, and performance, while mentoring engineers and shaping operational standards through runbooks and documentation. Strong collaboration with product teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in systems administration, systems engineering, or software development, incl. 4+ years operating production relational databases.
• Deep expertise in either MySQL or PostgreSQL, with working knowledge of the other DB engine and its ecosystem.
• Experience designing, operating, and scaling caching systems such as Redis, with understanding caching vs. DB trade-offs.
• Proficiency with Terraform or similar IaC tools and automated, reviewable workflows.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or other distributed systems and stateful workloads in orchestrated environments.
• Hands-on observability experience with Datadog, Prometheus, or CloudWatch including monitoring of query performance and service health.
• Strong coding and automation skills to build internal tools and backend services.
• Experience with incident response, production support, reliability engineering, and disaster recovery.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with product teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability of caching infra, including capacity planning, failover, upgrades, and healthy usage patterns.
• Participate in production on-call rotation and act as escalation point for DB and caching incidents.
• Support teams with query troubleshooting, storage guidance, schema design, and performance optimization.
• Manage DB and cache infra through Terraform and IaC workflows for safe, repeatable changes.
• Develop reusable templates, standards, and workflows enabling scalable, secure services.
• Build and maintain observability solutions with dashboards, alerts, and SLIs/SLOs.
• Improve performance, resilience, and scalability across MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis as workloads evolve.
• Advise teams on DB architecture, technology choices, query patterns, and capacity planning.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and create documentation and runbooks.
• Write automation to reduce repetitive work and improve reliability practices.
• Apply AI thoughtfully to code, query plans, logs, and incident response with validation.
