Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Data Privacy Lawyer for a fully remote role with a global footprint. You will advise on GDPR, POPIA, and cross-border transfers while shaping privacy policies and program strategy.

You will lead DPIAs, incident response, data subject rights, and work with IT, security, and product teams to embed privacy-by-design across products. Requires 6+ years’ privacy experience and an LLB; international frameworks preferred. Remote work across time zones.

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney with an LLB and strong academic record.
• Minimum 6 years of experience specializing in data privacy law.
• Deep knowledge of POPIA and GDPR.
• Experience with international privacy frameworks.
• Proven ability to draft clear privacy policies and contractual clauses.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on data privacy across jurisdictions.
• Develop and maintain privacy notices and data processing agreements.
• Conduct DPIAs and advise on risk mitigation.
• Manage data breach incident response plans and investigations.
• Handle data subject rights requests and ensure compliant responses.
• Collaborate with IT, Security, and Product teams to embed privacy-by-design.
