Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems seeks a Senior Data Engineer to build and extend a data and AI platform for federal background investigations, working remotely from EST hours. You will develop pipelines, transformations, and data products in a hands-on role under FedRAMP Moderate, NIST 800-171, and CUI constraints.

Responsibilities include IaC and CI/CD contributions, governance, and delivering governed datasets to the data science team, with a focus on secure, scalable data workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field is required.
• 5-7 years of experience building and maintaining production data pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL is required; Databricks or lakehouse stack experience and Unity Catalog exposure are required.
• Experience with Terraform and CI/CD for data workloads; familiarity with governance/cataloging tooling and orchestration tools.
• Working familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable); U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and pipeline code to produce governed, analysis-ready data products.
• Extend the platform following architecture, patterns, and standards; collaborate with the lead platform engineer.
• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines for production deployment.
• Monitor data quality, pipeline reliability, and performance; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Apply data governance, cataloging, and access-control practices within the framework.
• Support the data science and ML team by delivering governed datasets and tooling.
• Operate within FedRAMP Moderate, NIST 800-171, and CUI constraints in day-to-day engineering.
• Collaborate with the engineering team and maintain clear documentation of pipelines and processes.
