Job summary

Sigma Software seeks a Senior/Principal Data Engineer to own and scale enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and data products. You will lead architectural discussions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product teams to deliver robust analytics infrastructure.

The role emphasizes cloud-native design, batch and streaming processing, and hands-on implementation across AWS, Spark, Databricks, and Kafka. Fully remote with international collaboration opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, including 3–5+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience.
• Upper-Intermediate or higher English level.
• Strong experience building and operating scalable data platforms and pipelines in cloud environments.
• Advanced SQL knowledge and strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture principles.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, and Kafka.
• Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration workflows.
• Strong AWS cloud experience and knowledge of cloud-native data services.
• Experience designing modern data warehouse or lakehouse architectures.
• Strong system design and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance business and technical priorities while making architecture decisions.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving engineering best practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable data platforms, pipelines, and data products.
• Drive data architecture discussions including modeling, storage strategies, integration patterns, and platform evolution.
• Take end-to-end ownership of technical solutions and contribute to architectural and engineering decision-making.
• Develop and implement batch and streaming data solutions using cloud-native technologies.
• Lead platform modernization initiatives and continuous technical improvements.
• Establish and promote engineering best practices including CI/CD, testing, observability, security, and data quality.
• Mentor and support Data Engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Lead onboarding activities for new team members and support their integration into the engineering organization.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps and influence engineering direction across teams.
