General Motors is seeking a Staff Counsel to support Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. This role provides strategic legal guidance on commercial, procurement, and supply chain matters and requires the ability to navigate complex transactions while aligning with GM’s strategic goals.

The ideal candidate will manage multiple priorities, collaborate across legal and business teams, and deliver pragmatic advice.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of legal experience focusing on commercial or transactional matters.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; Michigan in-house admission possible.
• Experience advising on strategic commercial relationships or high-value transactions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; translate complex concepts clearly.
• Collaborate across multiple legal and business functions; drive initiatives.
• Proven initiative, integrity, resilience, and ability to manage large projects.

Responsabilités

• Draft, negotiate, and interpret complex commercial agreements (sourcing, technology, licensing, supply-chain).
• Provide legal and strategic advice to GPSC clients while balancing risk.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to structure transactions and enable execution.
• Develop contracting processes, playbooks, templates, and training to improve efficiency.
• Analyze and advise on complex legal and operational issues with enterprise-wide risk view.
• Build strong relationships with clients, legal colleagues, and GM partners.
