Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst - II to support VA applications, lead CM and release engineering, and drive cloud migration initiatives in a remote, U.S.-based setting.

The role requires deep CM expertise across Git, CI/CD tools, IaC (Ansible, Terraform), and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python), with proven ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading complex software builds and releases across environments.
• Experience in large regulated enterprises or federal settings.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Experience with multiple SCMs and branching/merging strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Experience with scripting for automation.
• Experience managing COTS software and patches, and IaC.
• Knowledge of software quality standards and governance.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release engineering tasks to document and align hardware configurations.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools for software modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures to support software product development and use.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train software developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
