Misfits Market is a mission-driven, high-growth startup focused on reducing food waste by delivering affordable, quality groceries. This Senior Counsel, Commercial will partner with leaders to manage day-to-day legal needs and help execute strategic priorities.

The role reports to the General Counsel and is remote. You’ll draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts, lead strategic partnerships, advise product teams on compliance, own the privacy program, and support governance and strategic

Qualifications

• 6-12 years of relevant experience, mix of law firm and in-house at fast-paced tech, food, or consumer goods company.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with non-legal colleagues.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills with attention to detail.
• Experience leveraging legal AI tools to streamline research and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Review, negotiate, and draft various agreements including commercial contracts, tech partnerships, data protection, IP, marketing, real estate, transportation, and vendor agreements.
• Lead negotiation and ongoing management of strategic commercial partnerships and cross-functional advisory.
• Counsel product teams on initiatives for compliance with consumer protection laws.
• Own Misfits Market’s privacy program and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
• Provide guidance on IP, advertising, food safety, regulatory compliance, and related matters.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks while enabling business goals.
• Support corporate governance and strategic transactions, including M&A and financings.
