Overview

The Senior Claims Specialist administers information from clients by phone, email, and fax to process insurance claims. The role involves working with clients, adjusters, and Producers on claims status, problems, and questions. Additionally, this position manages claims, collaborates with insureds, and assists with problem solving alongside the Claims Management team. The role serves as a resource for insureds, carriers, underwriters, and internal departments.

The Ideal Candidate

• Claims Background: Workers Compensation, Lost-Times
• Jurisdictional Experience: Workers' compensation claims experience with CT, MA, NH, and/or NY is preferred.
• Active Adjusters’ license: In at least one of the following states or willingness to obtain: CT, MA, NH, VT, NY

What You'll Do

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex workers' compensation claims, applying analytical skills to make informed decisions and bring claims to resolution.
• Partner with clients and carrier adjusters to deliver innovative solutions and enhance the claims management process. Think critically, solve problems, plan, and prioritize tasks to serve clients and claimants effectively.
• Manage claims independently and proactively, acting as a liaison to clients for all claims issues.
• Advocate with carriers to resolve coverage questions, aiming for the best outcomes for clients.
• Review claim reserves and negotiate with adjusters for reserve reductions where appropriate to positively impact the Experience Mod and/or Renewal.
• Establish initial contact with clients to develop a plan of action and maintain this relationship.
• Obtain current claim statuses from carriers and provide timely reports to clients.
• Keep Producers, Account Executives, and Claims Managers informed of claim developments.
• Update the agency management system with accurate, detailed descriptions that are easy to understand.
• Attach relevant documents and update financials in the system.
• Understand claims coverage and litigation processes to handle standard and complex claim issues.
• Apply claims management experience to analyze exposure, plan actions, and resolve claims appropriately.
• Communicate extensively with involved parties to ensure effective resolution.
• Provide exceptional customer service to claimants, demonstrating empathy throughout the process.
• Handle claims in accordance with client and company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Document and communicate claim activity efficiently to support claim outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
