The role is remote from anywhere in the continental USA, reporting to Aetna Technology's architecture governance.

Qualifications

12+ years in technology with deep cloud architecture experience at scale.
Expert-level AWS architecture; working proficiency in GCP and Azure for multicloud decisions.
Ownership of landing zones, reference architectures, and paved-road patterns.
Strong cloud security knowledge including zero-trust, identity, segmentation and blast-radius reduction.
FinOps awareness and cost-aware architecture tied to dollar impact.
Demonstrated influence and design authority as an IC.

Responsibilities

Own cloud reference architectures and landing zones across AWS primary with GCP/Azure by exception.
Define multicloud placement criteria and guardrails to guide workloads.
Design and maintain the paved road with reusable patterns and guardrails for teams.
Serve as escalation point for the hardest cloud design decisions with engineering teams.
Embed security patterns and cost considerations into architectures and governance.
