Job summary

CVS Health is hiring a Principal Data Architect to lead data architecture across Aetna Technology, defining reference architectures and data strategy across multivendor, multicloud estates. This role acts as the deepest technical authority on data and drives outcomes through design influence rather than direct reports.

The position supports a remote work model from anywhere in the continental USA, with a strong emphasis on data governance, security (PHI), and scalable data product delivery

Qualifications

• 12+ years in technology with hands-on data architecture experience at scale.
• Expert-level data platform architecture across multivendor, multicloud environments (Snowflake, GCP/BigQuery, AWS).
• Ownership of enterprise data architectures and golden-path patterns for data products.
• Strong governance, lineage, quality, and regulated-data controls (PHI or equivalent).
• Knowledge of data mesh, domain ownership, and systems-of-record design.

Responsibilities

• Own data reference architectures across a multivendor, multicloud estate (ingestion, storage, transformation, semantic, consumption).
• Define the data mesh operating model with domain-owned data products and clear contracts.
• Protect singular systems of record and establish authoritative datasets.
• Design and maintain golden paths for pipelines and data products for scalable delivery.
• Embed governance and quality gates into pipelines, automate controls for regulated data.
