Brown & Brown, Inc. is seeking a Claims Counsel for Management Liability to independently manage complex D&O, EPL, and Fiduciary claims for private companies and nonprofits.

The role requires strong coverage analysis, negotiation, and litigation management skills, with collaboration across underwriting, brokers, and defense counsel. Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership.
• 7–10 years of experience handling Management Liability claims.
• Experience in private company D&O, EPL, and Fiduciary Liability coverage analysis.
• Experience drafting reservation of rights, coverage position, and declination letters.
• Experience with governance, ownership disputes, investigations, bankruptcy, and executive liability claims.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a portfolio of complex, high-severity Management Liability claims.
• Analyze policy coverage and prepare letters for reservations, declinations, and coverage positions.
• Conduct detailed factual, legal, financial, and coverage analyses to assess liability and exposure.
• Maintain reserves within delegated authority and seek additional authority as needed.
• Direct litigation involving insureds and executives; retain and manage defense and coverage counsel.
• Develop and implement litigation and resolution strategies; monitor spend and budgets.
• Provide portfolio insights to underwriting and stakeholders; report trends and opportunities.
• Engage with brokers, insureds, and partners; present claims reviews and portfolio updates.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in audits, training, and process improvements.
