Job summary

MDHHS is seeking an advanced level Child Welfare Consultant within the Division of Child Welfare Licensing. The role enforces statutes and rules for child caring institutions, child placing agencies, and court-operated facilities in the Genesee region, with responsibility for investigations and enforcement actions.

The position covers Genesee, Macomb, Oakland, and St. Clair counties. Remote or hybrid work may be considered, with required background checks and investigations to begin.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in one of the listed social/child welfare fields.
• Three years of professional supervisory experience in a child placing agency, child caring institution, or child welfare social court operated facility; or at least 1 year as a Child Welfare Consultant P11 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Enforce statutes and administrative rules in child caring institutions, child placing agencies, and court operated facilities.
• Provide expert technical assistance and consultation to programs within the assigned geographic region.
• Take enforcement actions and testify in administrative and circuit court hearings when licensees contest Department actions.
