Job summary

Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential oversees licensing for child care organizations, conducting inspections and investigations to ensure compliance within a specified region. The role includes providing technical guidance to applicants and licensees, initiating enforcement when needed, and testifying in hearings related to regulatory matters.

The position serves the Wayne County Region, with potential limited state carpool options.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in child development, elementary education, early childhood education, guidance and counseling, or social work.
• Two years of professional, post-bachelor’s degree experience licensing child day care homes or centers, or related facilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct state licensing inspections of child care homes and centers.
• Investigate complaints and provide consultation to applicants and licensees.
• Initiate enforcement actions when necessary and testify in hearings.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, fire safety inspectors, and protective services representatives.
