Job summary

MDHHS in Genesee County, MI seeks an Advanced Child Welfare Consultant to enforce statutes across child caring institutions and agencies, and to provide expert consultation within the region. The role involves coordinating investigations with CPS and law enforcement and testifying in hearings.

The position requires a master’s degree in related fields and several years of supervisory or senior-level experience in child welfare settings.

Qualifications

Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling and guidance, family and child development, criminal justice, sociology.
Three years of professional supervisory experience in a child placing agency, child caring institution, or child welfare social court operated facility; or at least 1 year as a Child Welfare Consultant P11 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Enforce statutes and administrative rules in child caring institutions, child placing agencies, and court operated facilities.
Provide expert technical assistance and consultation within assigned geographic region.
Conduct complaint investigations and coordinate with Child Protective Services and Law Enforcement.
Testify in administrative hearings and circuit court hearings when licensees contest Department actions.
