Job summary

AAPC is seeking a Senior Specialty Physician Coder in Fountain Valley, CA/Remote to review and ensure accurate coding for office, hospital and surgical procedures. You will collaborate with the Coding Compliance Manager to identify trends and implement corrective actions.

The ideal candidate has 5 years of hospital/physician coding experience, 2 years in specialty coding (cardiothoracic, interventional radiology, or oncology infusion), and strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and Epic.

Qualifications

• 5 years' experience working in a hospital or physician's office as a medical coder and interacting with physicians.
• 2 years' experience as a specialty coder in one of: Cardiothoracic Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Oncology Chemotherapy Infusion.
• Expert knowledge of ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Epic software experience is highly desired.
• Proficient Microsoft skills.
• Must be very experienced in Epic charge submission.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and analyzing specialty coding and billing for charge processing.
• Code office, hospital, and surgical procedures for reimbursement; ensure accurate and compliant medical coding for inpatient and outpatient services.
• Serve as a point of contact for contract coders and maintain contract coding operations.
• Work with Coding Compliance Manager on discovered coding trends and needed actions.
