Job summary

FedWriters, Inc. is seeking a MRMS Hydromet Development Advisor to guide optimization of the MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase for the VCP-Agnostic version.

This full-time remote role supports NSSL with production C++ strategy guidance. You will analyze code, advise on architecture, modify C++ where needed, and prepare technical documentation and quarterly status reports while collaborating with a focused development team.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a technical or business discipline.
• 4+ years of professional and/or academic experience.
• Experience advising on software architecture and development risk.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase and develop recommendations for the planned VCP-Agnostic version.
• Advise on and modify existing C++ code or contribute new code to optimize processing software.
• Provide expert technical guidance on software design, coding approach, and development risk.
• Produce technical documentation (schematics, code repositories, test reports) for development activities.
• Prepare quarterly reports of status.
